One of the social phenomena - communication, at the present stage
attracts more and more attention of researchers. Communication becomes an
object of study at various levels and in various concepts: philosophical,
political science, sociobiological, cultural, psychological, linguistic,
sociological, etc.
This state of affairs is due to the widespread changes that are taking
place in modern society. Human activity cannot be imagined without contact with
other people, i.e. without communication. The very phenomenon of communication
is also developing, acquiring new forms and functions.
Note that in modern linguistics, a versatile study of all aspects of
various discourses (in particular, mass media) is becoming increasingly
relevant. It is known that the theoretical basis for studying the communicative
nature of discourses is provided by the study of their model in close
connection with the elements of the communicative situation and human activity
in general, and in the context of interethnic interaction, in particular.
Also, modern science is showing interest in various aspects of the
political life of society, including the problems associated with the language
of politics. First of all, this is due to the large-scale growth of the
influence of the media, which become a conductor of political power, an
instrument of manipulative influence on the masses.
Political communication is a linguistic activity aimed at promoting
political views, ideological influence on the citizens of the country and
encouraging them to take political action. Its main function is the struggle
for power. Every person who even occasionally reads newspapers, turns on the
radio or television, becomes the addressee of political communication. The word
is the most important tool by which politicians influence their voters, create
important ideological images, and encourage action. The word is the tool that
helps politicians achieve their goals.
Political communication reflects the existing political reality, which
changes with it, influences its creation and transformation. The language of
politics is a part of the general linguistic culture of a society, as well as a
way of expressing it.
Sociolinguistics as a direction of modern linguistics is based on
concepts such as linguistic community, linguistic situation, bilingualism,
diglossia, language code, code switching, and the like.
A linguistic register means a set of linguistic means used for a
communicative purpose and characterized by a certain homogeneity (these can be
literary languages, social and territorial dialects, stylistic varieties of one
language, etc.). Quite often, researchers use the words “code” and “subcode” in
the phrase “register switching”. It is the use of various codes, as well as the
mechanism for switching codes, that is most often paid attention to in
linguistic studies of bilingualism. This explains the relevance of this work.
The object of the research is
the phenomenon of register switching in linguistics.
The subject of the research is
the discursive switching of registers in the context of cultural and linguistic
contacts using the example of media sources.
The purpose of the study is
to identify the features of the discursive switching of registers in the
context of cultural and linguistic contacts using the example of media sources.
The hypothesis of the research
is the assumption that register switching occurs through the use of different
layers of vocabulary, motivated change of topics, the use of metaphors.
Research objectives:
1. Describe the features of intercultural communication.
2. Give a description of the discourse.
3. Consider the essence of register switching in linguistics.
4. To analyze the features of the discursive switching of registers in
the context of cultural and linguistic contacts based on the material of media
sources.
Research methods: analysis of the
literature on the research topic; synthesis and generalization; method of
continuous sampling; a descriptive method.
The structure of the
course work is due to the purpose and objectives of the
study. The work consists of an introduction, two

CHAPTER 1. THEORETICAL BASIS OF RESEARCH DISCURSIVE
SWITCHING OF REGISTERS IN THE CONTEXT OF CULTURAL-LANGUAGE CONTACTS
1.1. Features of intercultural communication The process of globalization, which is rapidly
developing in our time, leads to the expansion of interaction between different
countries, peoples and their cultures. Influence is carried out through
cultural exchanges and direct contacts between state institutions, social
groups, social movements, through scientific cooperation, trade, tourism, etc.
Communication with foreigners has become a reality, and contacts with
representatives of another culture have become firmly established in everyday
life. Today, many are involved in intercultural communication and dialogue of
cultures. Dialogue of cultures is the knowledge of another culture through
one's own, and one's own through another through cultural interpretation and
adaptation of these cultures to each other in the context of semantic
disagreement among most of both. The main means of this is language, the
knowledge of which is the most important prerequisite for understanding another
culture[1].
Language as a means of communication between people
and the culture of a given society formed with its help are in an inextricable
connection and continuous interaction, which determines their development. S.G.
Ter-Minasova argues that "language is a powerful social tool that forms a
flow of people into an ethnos, which forms a nation through the storage and
transmission of culture, traditions, and social consciousness of a given speech
community"[2].
The relationship of a person with the outside world is expressed in language
and is largely shaped by language. Moreover, the cultural component plays a
decisive role. To consider the relationship of a person with the world, such a
concept as "picture of the world" is used. The surrounding world of a
person is expressed in three forms: a real picture of the world; cultural
picture of the world (or conceptual); linguistic picture of the world. The real
picture of the world is an objective non-human reality, it is the world that
surrounds a person. The cultural picture of the world (conceptual) is a
reflection of the real picture through the prism of concepts formed on the
basis of a person's ideas, which he receives with the help of his senses and
that pass through his consciousness. The cultural picture of the world is
specific and differs among different peoples. This is due to various factors:
geography, climate, natural conditions, history, social structure, beliefs,
traditions, lifestyle, etc.[3]. The
linguistic picture of the world reflects reality by linguistic means, but not
directly, but through the cultural picture of the world. The real picture of
the world that exists in the mind of a person is objectified by language and
already has only the form that the national language created on the basis of
culture.
The very notion "picture of the world" is
difficult to interpret unambiguously, since it does not represent an
objectively existing reality. In general, the picture of the world means a
certain model of reality reflected in the human mind. The preconditions for the
emergence of this concept can be found in the works of W. von Humboldt
(reasoning about the linguistic world creation), K. Vossler, H. Steinthal
(thinking about the worldview of the people, embodied in language and is a kind
of creation of the world), etc.
The basis of the picture of the world is the totality
of the consciousness of the individual and the consciousness of the society. It
represents the imprint of national, social, cultural and historical
characteristics.
There is a difficult
relationship between the picture of the world, which reflects the real world,
and the linguistic picture of the world, which fixes this display. The picture
of the world can be represented using spatial (east - west, right - left, top -
bottom, far - close), temporal (winter - summer, day - night), ethnic and other
parameters. The formation of the picture of the world is influenced by such
factors as language, nature and landscape, upbringing, education, [1] Mironov
