Введение:

The concept is characterized by a system-forming
quality, which determines the study of the concept as a means of organizing
artistic discourse. According to V.Z. Demyankov, a certain discourse is
organized around certain basic concepts. Discourse contributes to the creation
of a general context describing the characters, objects, circumstances, times,
actions, etc., being determined by the common world for the creator and
interpreter, which is also built in the course of the discourse development (Демьянков,
1992). Today, within the framework of linguistic science, the study of the
specifics of the functioning of concepts in discourse and text is of particular
relevance. The concept is the object of research in various directions, for
example, linguoculturological, psycholinguistic, linguo-cognitive. Therefore,
scientists have already created detailed descriptions of the concept from the
point of view of its specific-specific properties in various approaches.
However, at the present stage of the development of science, the state of the
theory of the concept is a transitional state to "an integrated form of
production and ordering of scientific knowledge about the concept" [8, с. 25]. There is a tendency to create a unified
theory of the concept, aimed at integrating knowledge generated by different
scientific fields, which will allow the concept to be studied as a complex
evolving phenomenon (Бронник, 2010).

In the age of universal computerization and high
technologies, people's speech becomes more impoverished, becomes tongue-tied.
The speech of young people is especially replete with cliches, slang, jargon.
But it is known that a person's speech expresses his level of development.

Language (speech) is a mirror that stands between a
person and the world. Language is the most important source of the formation
and manifestation of the mentality of the people. With its help, the culture is
preserved and passed on to other generations. And the phraseological units of
the language play an important role in this.

The linguistic picture of the world is a reflection of
the general national idea of the world, of concepts that are interconnected
with the ideals of society, phenomena of the external or mental world, which
were assessed by members of society, negative and positive emotions of people.

At the next stage in the development of humanitarian
knowledge, and in the course of an active transition from linguistics, focused
on learning the language in itself, to anthropological linguistics, which
studies language in connection with a person, his thinking and consciousness,
modern linguistic thought is faced with the need for a new term for an adequate
designation of the content side of a linguistic sign, which would remove the
functional limitations of the traditional meaning and sense and in which
logical-psychological and linguistic categories would be organically combined.

Active intelligence in linguistics in the 90s of the
twentieth century led to the emergence of a number of nominative units, common
to which was the desire to show the specifics of the representation of
linguistic knowledge. In the competitive struggle in the linguistic literature
such terms as "concept", "linguocultureme",
"mythologeme", "logo-system" collided. But it becomes
obvious that the concept of “concept” turned out to be the most viable. It has
become a key concept in cognitive linguistics - one of the common models of
reality awareness and linguistic categorization, an operational unit of memory.

The study of such models of representation of
knowledge and ideas of a person about the world around them as a picture of the
world, frame, stereotype, archetype, concept, etc. at the present stage of
development of linguistics is quite relevant. The most detailed and often
contradictory views of linguists accompany the central term of cultural
linguistics - a concept. Today, many works of domestic and foreign researchers
are devoted to the problem of reflecting the objective world in concepts.

So, language as an integral component of national
consciousness is a means of expressing the main features of mentality. Each
nation has its own perception of the world and embodies it in a special, unique
projection, that is, it has its own way of conceptualization.

Thus, the study of this concept deserves special
attention. By ethnospecific concepts, we mean specialized ethnocultural
concepts in which the specific features of a particular culture are
concentrated. The study of these concepts allows you to get an idea of a
different view of the world, a different mentality.

Concept is one of the most popular and least
unambiguously defined terms in modern linguistics. It is associated, first of
all, with the anthropocentric paradigm of linguistics and cognitive-pragmatic
methodology and is used along with such key concepts as "discourse",
"picture of the world", etc., to represent the worldview,
intellectual and emotional intentions of the personality, reflected in its
creations-texts.

The relevance of this study is due to the anthropocentricity of the object of
analysis of the concept of culture, its place in the system of axiological
landmarks of representatives of linguistic culture.

The object of our research is the concept of Russian
culture.

The subject of the research is the linguistic means of
verbalizing the concept of Russian culture.

The purpose of the study is to identify the
linguistic features of the of verbalizing the concept of Russian culture in
American prose.

Research objectives:

1. Describe the features of cultural linguistics as a
science.

2. Consider the means of creating the concept of
culture in fiction.

3. Conduct an analysis of the image of Russian culture
in the text of an artwork.

Research methods: analysis of the literature on the research topic;
synthesis and generalization; method of continuous sampling; analysis of
dictionary definitions; a descriptive method.

The practical
significance of the research lies in the fact that the theoretical and
factual material we have collected can be used in further development of this
issue; and also in the possibility of using it as a lecture material for
students of philology, student translators.

Заключение:

As a result of the study, the goal of this work was
achieved: linguistic features of the verbalization of the concept of Russian
culture in American prose were revealed on the material of the work "The
Belated Russian Passport" by Mark Twain.

The achievement of this goal was facilitated by the
solution of a number of research tasks:

1. The features of linguoculturology as a science are
characterized. An analysis of the literature made it possible to establish that
linguoculturology has an interdisciplinary character. The interdisciplinary
status of this scientific discipline involves the identification of common,
intersecting areas of interaction with each of the related sciences and, at the
same time, the establishment of characteristic features.

Cultural linguistics as a science occupies an
important place in the process of language learning, since the cultural
linguistic approach allows you to identify and form ideas about the language in
its connection with the people. his mentality, way of life, historical past.

2. The means of creating the concept of culture in
fiction are considered. As a result of solving this problem, it was concluded
that the conceptual component of the cultural concept is represented by
different types of semantic features: definitional-distinctive, distinguishing
it from related concepts; essential/essential, forming its conceptual
"facets"; implicative, derived from definitive; encyclopedic -
redundant by definition, etc.

In linguoculturology, the concept, in particular, the
cultural concept, is a national-culturally determined formation, which consists
of figurative, conceptual and value components. The concept is characterized
not only as the main unit of modern linguistics, but also as one of the most
important and valuable elements of culture.

3. The analysis of the image of Russian culture in the
text of a work of art has been carried out. The material for the study was Mark
Twain's short story "The Belated Russian Passport".

A definitional analysis of the concept of culture and
Russian culture was carried out, the main connotative features of this concept
were identified: way of life; art/music/literature; beliefs/attitudes;
growing/breeding; cells/bacteria. Note that the last two connotations are not
presented in the analyzed work (growing/breeding and cells/bacteria).

The image of Russia, in particular, Tsarist Russia in
Mark Twain's "Belated Russian Passport" is represented by a number of
nominations containing the lexeme "Russian" (Russian language),
toponyms (St. Petersburg, Siberia), as well as nominations of purely Russian
reality (vodka).

Comparison of the considered dictionary definitions of
the lexeme "culture" and lexemes that verbalize the image of Russia
in the work of the American writer Mark Twain "Belated Russian
Passport" led to the conclusion that the image of Russia, in particular,
the image of tsarist Russia, is presented from concepts, especially with Russian
people, their way of life, the way of the country. In addition, some
stereotypes of Russian culture are clearly traced in the work. The first of
them is the fear of being exiled to Siberia. In the work we see that the
American student is very afraid of it and understands perfectly well that it is
not. The second stereotype is associated with the national drink - vodka. As
already noted, for Russians, vodka is a spiritual drink, as well as a means of
solving many problems.

We believe that the prospect of further research is
the study of the features of the transfer into Russian of the verbalizers of
the image of Russia in works of art.

CHAPTER I. THEORETICAL FOUNDATIONS FOR STUDYING THE
PECULIARITIES OF THE REPRESENTATION OF CULTURE IN ART

1.1. Characteristics of linguoculturology as a science Each of us is a representative of a certain national culture with its
national traditions, language, history, and literature. Today, economic,
cultural and scientific contacts between countries, representatives of
different cultures are becoming more and more relevant, which causes the need
to study intercultural communications, the specifics of the relationship
between different languages and cultures. Even E. Sapir wrote: “Language is a
guide that is becoming increasingly important as a guiding principle in the
scientific study of culture” (Сопоставительные аспекты лингвокультурологии, электронный ресурс).

The science of the 21st century is characterized by a tendency towards
the interpenetration of various branches of scientific knowledge. For example,
within the framework of the humanities, there is a tendency to activate
cultural studies, which implies the study of the phenomenon of culture, which
reflects the diversity of human activity and its objectified results (Красавский, 2001).

Linguoculturology in
the 70s. The twentieth century, according to the forecast of Emil Benveniste,
was formed as an independent area of linguistic research. It was based on the
trial “language, culture, human personality”. The purpose of this science was
to provide a scientific basis for presenting and activating data about the
country and culture of the language being studied using the philological
teaching methodology. Within the framework of this direction of linguistic
research, linguoculturology is considered as a prism through which the
researcher has the opportunity to see the material and spiritual identity of a
particular ethnic group (Воркачев, 2002). Cultural linguistics, developing as a
science, has gone from general to proper linguistic culturology, and then from
“neutral”, “universal” to comparative linguoculturology, in which the phenomena
and elements of a foreign
